                            Stay with me awhile

~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy ~

Well I've been thinking about you

          With a feeling that I can't hide

When I remember about the times

That I could have told you why

          And your warm sweet smile

          Reflecting sunlight in your eyes

Beads of golden dew all around us

Bursting tears of rain through my mind

Won't you stay with me awhile

And see what you've done to me

Won't you stay with me awhile

          And see what you've done

Well there's been times when I've felt so lonely

Just from thinking about you slipping by

From my heart into the arms of another

But I hope you'd never even try

I'd like to thank you for our times together

For seeing through me and opening my eyes

To your wonderful winds of change girl

          Blowing gently through my mind

Won't you stay with me awhile
And see what you've done to me
Won't you stay with me awhile
          Come see what you've done

Welcome to my Song Lyrics Page! I decided to have some fun and added comments about each song and photos in chronological order wherever I could. It was a lot of work, but very fun putting this all together, and so I hope you find some enjoyment to it, Thanks,....Freddy

A funny, but silly song I wrote about a dream that didn't quite come true. In the end though, it is these kinds of dreams that we long for to come true, so don't turn your back on 'em

Don’t Turn Your Back on Me

~ Words and Music by Fretless Freddy~

You knocked on my front door

My mama said I wasn’t there
You stormed out my yard into the street
You saw me standing there near that park bench

           Well I was all alone
I turned my back on you
You said I love you baby, wont you look at me
I said I will just as soon as I finish shaking my knees

I turned around and you smiled
Whoah, I saw that look in your eyes
I said, I love you baby come on home with me
Ah, yes, and you took me by the hand

Now I just wanna see this dream come true
Now I just want to spend some time with you
I want to see the morning sun shining in your eyes
           And when the moment comes
Don’t turn your back on me
Now I just wanna see this dream come true

           I woke up by myself
I guess I had her on my mind
I stormed out my yard into the street
I saw her standing there near that park bench

           I thought she was alone
She turned her back on me
I said I love you baby come on home with me
She said  get lost or I’ll have my man break both of your knees

I turned around and he smiled
Whoah, I saw that look in his eyes
I said man by the time your finished counting to three
I’ll be out of sight around the corner down the next street

Now I don’t wanna see this dream come true anymore
I’ll wait for the time if you find yourself at my door
Sometimes living in dreams life just seems like a fantasy
But if that moment comes don’t turn your back on your dreams

So, I just wanna see this dream come true

I just wanna see this dream come true

In 1980, I inspired myself to write this song because of someone I had really cared about. It isn't so much about her, but rather the feeling I had about myself, and this was intended to be a fun song to play, which it is

A song written around 1982 This inspiration came about  by the

senseless violence of the many sick minded people in this world and

the wonder of how people despise all this, and then turn their heads

and well, just 'Call it a Shame' without really doing anything about it.

This is another song used in my book  "Wings of a Fallen Star" that

   rock star Jonathon Roberts performs.

JJ's dedication song to Kathleen and Brenda as described in my book, he wrote this song while trying unsuccessfully to accept the tragic loss of his wife Brenda while falling in love and cherishing the comfort he felt with Kathleen, who had lost her husband seven years earlier.

Alas, Billy's song! I remember when I finished writing this back around 1982, with the idea for the saxophone solo going on in my head, thinking, "man this is probably your best work to date" I was really impressed with myself. I actually combined parts of two different songs, one from a few years earlier, thus the idea for Jonathon Roberts to do the same thing in 'Wings of a Fallen Star' Love the way JJ came back with that song. If interested, please see link above to page dedicated to my book. It is an enlightening and emotional story for all age levels

 Left Behind

~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy 1985 ~

       Think about some time ago

We played around but did not know the game
       Confused in understanding how

We did not know the rules until they came
Think about those days baby, think about tonight

Why did we choose the things we wanted to lose
I’m sick and worried about those days we left behind

       Deep beyond the frozen smiles

Are melting scenes of passion love and tears
So hard to let the feelings out

Through the silent timeless shouting of the years
Think about today baby, think about tonight
Why did we choose the things we wanted to lose
I’m sick and worried about the love we left behind

And when you’re feeling down I’ll brighten up your day
Although it’s hard to find the proper words to say
And if I’m feeling down I hope that you can find
Some of that love we left behind
Why did we choose the things we wanted to lose
I’m sick and worried about those days
                             ~instrumental~
Think about today baby, think about tonight
Why did we choose the things we wanted to lose
I’m sick and worried about the life we left behind

      Think about some time ago
we played around but did not know the game
Confused in understanding how we did not know the rules until they came
Think about those days baby, think about tonight
Why did we choose the things we wanted to lose
I’m sick and worried about the love we left behind

And when you’re feeling down I’ll brighten up your day
Although it’s hard to find the proper words to say
And if I’m feeling down I hope that you can find
Some of that love we left behind
Find those days, oh yeah, we left behind, behind…

This song was my 'instant karma' one of those rare and spontaneous moments when stuff seems to jump at you from out of thin air, well slightly damp air...As I was taking a shower, I was in process of thinking what song Jonathon Roberts would be playing for an opener in concert at end of book, that it would have to be an oldie, and so I figured subtracting about 20 years or so from time of concert setting which was around 2005, so I needed a sound from the mid 80's and this song came to me instantly. I added all the words and completed song the next day. That was one of the coolest things to happen to me and ironically the idea to have Billy's song in book to come to him in the middle of the night. Written around 2016.

One of the first rock songs I wrote early around 1978. I remember

because when I traded my black Fender Stratocaster (in photo

above which I wish I did not do today) I used my '77 Les Paul

Standard (not a bad trade cost a little more $$) which I purchased

in 1978. I Still have this guitar, shown in photo below, a great

instrument with that unmistakable Gibson tone, that brings back a      lot of great memories. I used the LP when I wrote this song... Like

JJ Roberts says in my book, 'Wings of a Fallen Star," Here's some

'Freewheellin' for ya!" (hold your applause please)

                      RoCk AnD RoLL BaBy, heheh!

This is a special song called "Treasures In Your Heart" I wrote it after performing with a couple of friends, Jennifer and Tom at the Greenburg Nature Center in NY, and it reflects the feelings of how I felt afterwards about finding all the happiness you need from within, That was all I needed that day, to be there with my friends and playing for the children and their families, and this song was a heaven sent instant karma I literally just wrote in a couple of hours.

In 1974, in the heart of my youth I wrote this song for a girl I really liked. It wasn't even puppy love, but this particular puppy was around 17 years old. I was a little shy and started my quest for dating a little late and then wondered why every time I thought I loved a girl, she was already taken. Needless to say, I ended up playing it at my wedding reception in dedication to my lovely wife. We had our 30th Wedding anniversary in January 2019, and have been together for over 35 years.

                                 You Really Blow My Mind
~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy 2016 ~

When you talk that way those words you say
Any other day I’d walk away
But I know you know how I feel about you
You always rile me just to smile at me
For the world to see how good you are
And baby I’m not good without you, I’d never get too far

The times you spent running from me baby doesn’t matter at all
But please don’t go running anymore cause you’re hard to find
    You really blow my mind

So go ahead and tease me girl put my heart in a whirl
I’ll spin around and round won’t know up from down
But one thing that I do know is I love you
So let me hold you tight and if you do we might
Fall in love again until the end of time
Say you’ll stay with me my darling, don’t ever change your mind

The times you spent running from me baby doesn’t matter at all
But please don’t go running anymore cause you’re hard to find
   You really blow my mind..

Say you’ll always be what you wanted

What you told me from the start

When you opened up your heart

                        (short solo)

So let me hold you tight and if you do we might
Fall in love again until the end of time
Say you’ll stay with me my darling don’t ever change your mind
The times you spent running from me baby doesn’t matter at all
But please don’t go running anymore cause you’re hard to find

   You really blow my mind
   You really blow my mind

    Waiting For You

~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy ~

I’ve been down this road so long I feel I’m falling
Don’t know where to turn but I hear you calling
Calling me back home to familiar places that I’ve known
Before I left here on my own, without you

Now every sign I find is pointing toward the door
Within your home inside my heart waiting for you, waiting for you

I think about you every night I'm yearning
To holding you so tight the fire is burning in my heart
Burning in my heart a flaming desire for that part of you
That’s grown out of a love from long ago

And if you close your eyes the love you find inside
Is no surprise, open your heart and let it go
        Let our love flow..

                                  (instrumental solos)

Open your heart, open your heart and let it go
Your love is part, only a part, let your love show
        Let our love grow..

I’ve been down this road so long I feel I’m falling
Don’t know where to turn but I hear you calling
Calling me back home to familiar places that I’ve known
Before I left here on my own, without you

Now every sign I find is pointing toward the door
Within your home inside my heart
Waiting for you, waiting for you, waiting for you

                                             Call it a Shame
~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy ~

They’ll steal for fun then turn and run, we can’t go on this way
They’ll kill for love then beg for joy, and hide their hate away
They’ll look right through you like your half insane
But it’s not up to you, so you call it a shame

They’ll spare your soul if you pay the toll, before their mind gets through
They’ll pay the price to see the double dice you gambled roll away
No way to stop them, well their they’re half insane
But it’s not up to you, so you call it a shame

                                             (instrumental)

Now you want your money, but your ego wants you to want your fame
Minds stick like honey, lies sting like bees, within, without the pain

There’s no way to stop them because they’re half insane
But it’s not up to you, so you call it a shame
Look through the streets now, we’re all the same
We’re part of everything that you call a shame

        Chorus:

Ooh, call it a shame, Ooh, call it a shame
Ooh, call it a shame, Ooh, call it a shame.

            FRETLESS  FREDDY

                       ~ Song Lyrics ~

                                             So Far Away
~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy ~

Well I’m wondering about my life

I don’t know what I want to do
Living in a world of pain and strife
Don’t know what I need to help me through

Some save their money for a rainy day and then pass away
      We’ve seen that all before

Others spend it all just to have a ball
      But then they fall

      Never opened up their door

I wish I could show you why I’m so down

      Might not really know you
      But I’m glad you’re around, I’m glad you’re around
I’m glad I found you, I’m glad I found you so far away..

Now I’m dreaming of a world

That’s full of love and rid from fear
With clouds of hope in the sky above
Raining on us all reflected tears of love

I wish I could save it all from its fate

You know it’s not too late
But it’s hard to do it all alone
There’s something everyone should try to do
It’s up to you, we can call the world our home

I wish I could show you why I’m so down
Might not really know you, but I’m glad you’re around
      I’m glad you’re around, yeah, I’m glad you’re around...

People try to tell me where I’m going wrong
Never stop to think that I just may be doing alright
It’s that part of their mind where their blind when they find
That when they open their eyes they just can’t see out of sight

This song is for anyone who finds it sane
Then close your eyes and release the pain
Somewhere so far, somewhere so far away..
I’m glad I found you, I’m glad I found you so far away

Now I’m wondering about my life again
I still don’t know what I want to do
Then I think of all my friends
And all the love that’s held me through

You can hang around that corner every night if it feels alright
But what goodness could that bring?

And you can drum around the street
It’s the same old beat to anyone you meet
And it couldn’t change a thing

I wish I could show you why I’m so down
Might not really know you, but I’m glad you’re around
      I’m glad you’re around..

Now I’m thinking about my friends

                             Treasures in Your Heart
~ Words and music by Fretless Freddy 2016~

When that pot of gold at the end of your rainbow is so far away
When you’re shooting for the stars and you lose your way
When your brightest lights are dimming and your flames are only kindling
When that mountain seems so high cause the valley is not in sight

When your sadness comes in measures

Cause your only goals are pleasure

If you’d opened all your windows from the start
You’d unlock all those treasures in your  heart
Unlock all those treasures in your heart

While time keeps running away while you’re standing still
When all your high hopes and dreams are rolling down the hill
And while the wheels of life keep turning

There’s a spark inside you burning
When that highway is long and winding and there’s no relief in sight
You’d see that distant light, but your mind is shuttered tight

If you’d opened all your windows from the start
You’d unlock all those treasures in your  heart
Unlock all those treasures in your heart

                              (instrumental)

Keep on looking… you’ve got to keep on looking-
  keep on looking deep inside

Well your brightest lights are dwindling
Because your flames are only kindling
If you’d opened all your windows from the start,
You’d unlock all those treasures in your heart…

All those treasures, all those treasures
You’d never be alone or apart
If you’d unlock all those treasures in your heart

It was the early Seventies, Vietnam War, Richard M. Nixon was President, and the peaceful war protesters were in the streets… This young lad got his first acoustic guitar compliments of his lovely sisters, Donna and Nancy at age 15 for Christmas…I remember being so excited, the guitar came with a 45 rpm record ( a 7” round vinyl thing with grooves on it for all of you young folks) and when I tuned the guitar to this record, I had tuned it backwards, as the gentleman’s voice on the record informed me, “Now, for the 6th and last string, the Big Fat one!” I started with that one and was on the ‘Skinny Guy’ on the other side of the neck, haha!   Anyway, I taught myself  to play reading chord charts from an instruction book, and before long I had written my first song about my reaction to the way American youth felt at that time, and even more so today “Let’s Change The World Together” written around 1973-74 (photo of me with my brother Donato below)

I ran a gift-shop/snack bar between 1983-1985 in my hometown of Cold

Spring, NY. I  played my Takamine acoustic guitar there often, and

wrote this song while working there. It is kind of like an abstract number

in a sense, but think I'm referring to the level of kindness and love during

those 'olden days'  "Bring Back Those Days We Left Behind!"

Yeah, Page is still under construction!

However, I plan on eventually uploadingsolo versions of my songs with links to YouTube when I get around to it.

Does anyone has a 'round tuit' I could borrow?

I hope you enjoy reading the lyrics and using your imagination in the meantime..

Think of how much fun it could be?

All the best,  fretless

                       Let’s Change the World Together

~ words and music by Fretless Freddy ~

Did you ever know what it’s like to be alone?
When your all by yourself sometimes no home
When all the people that you meet don’t seem to help you out
And it seems that your purpose of living is all strung out

People shouting out your name while you run the streets
Red lights glare around your face policeman at your feet

We could have peace you know and all it takes is time
Instead of just hanging around we really should try

       To change the world together
       The world could be together
I want to change it right now

Did you ever think what the world would be like as one?
With no fighting killing or stealing right under the sun
Nowadays children have different ideas for the truth
Why don’t we listen to our children listen to our youth

And it seems like crossfire between generations
No one with a reason to defend
And if you stand between the line of fire
You’ll be driven crazy until the end

Don’t stand between the fighting Come join the side

That you think is standing for the future of mankind

       The world could be together
       Let’s change the world together
I want to change it right now
                                (instrumental)

       The world could be together
       Let’s change the world together
       The world could be together
       Let’s change the world together
I want to change it right now, oh, yeah
       Change it right now...

                                               Freewheeling

~ Words and Music by ‘Fretless’ Freddy ~

Early days gone to waste now, now

I heard you say there was no time to lose

             But now you've changed

             You're not the same anymore

And you find the time you once saved is gone

Running round that same old town

All your life what you chose to do-

             I'm freewheeling baby

On my way back home to you

Summer days and nights you lived

Like a dreamer's heir of lies

             Dressing the sky with stars

             Of your wishes come true

             You used your mind

Like a warn out (self relating) tool

             Sometimes I think you're part

             Of someone else's fool

             But don't get me wrong

             Cause the feeling's strong

I've got to get back to myself

             I'm freewheeling baby
On my way back home to you

                                      (instrumental)

Early days gone to waste now, now
I heard you say there was no time to lose
             But now you're changing
             You're not the same anymore
And you find the time you once saved is gone

Running round that same old town

All your life what you chose to do

             I'm freewheeling baby
On my way back home to you

                                   Where I was going

~ words and music by Fretless Freddy ~

I wish I knew where I was going

It's hard to do and I think it's showing

But the smile on your face

          Sends me far into space

Don't you know it's where I wanna be, yeah

And when I return I've got hours to burn

And don't you know I've got to spend another minute with you

Another day the sun is on the rising

This may be true but I'm here despising

The truth from a hoax you know I've really got to know

Don't you know it's what I've got to see, oh yeah

And while I keep tracked between tension and slack

Don't you know I've got to spend a little time with you, yeah

           (short guitar solo)

I wish I knew where I was going

It's hard to do and I think it's showing, showing,

          yeah, yeah
